Soldanella![]() ![]() „Your home in St.Moritz“, is the slogan which Urs Degiacomi created for the Hotel Soldanella. Since 1972 it is owned by the family Degiacomi and is run by the brothers Urs and Enrico. It became the home for many guests who are not looking for luxury in St.Moritz but rather a cozy and comfortable home.
The hotel which was built in 1905 has still obtained it’s original Art Nouvesu stil which is felt everywhere , especially in the main dining room, called „the Salle à manger.
The atmosphere the hotel is so enhancing that many guests return year for year.
The huge plush Ice Bear which ist the mascot of the house greets you in the lobby - in winter with the Cresta toboggan and the Cresta insignia and in summer with a golf bag ready to tee off.
Another outstanding feature of the Hotel Soldanella is it’s unique location , only five minutes walk to the centre of St.Moritz and the famous Corviglia cable car. It also has an unobstructed view of the lake St.Moritz as well as the snow covered mountain range.
The Hotel Soldanella has a tradition of over 100 years of hospitality. It was built in 1902 only with the aim of making hotel guests coming to the Engadine
feel at home. Jules Calonder from Trin (Bündner Oberland) was an experienced confectioner who returned to Graubünden in 1880 after
years of working in France and settled down in Pontresina. He then built the hotel and opened it in 1905 and called it the Hotel Calonder.
Jules Calonder ran his hotel until his death together with his daughter Anna and her husband Bernhard Tratschin-Calonder. After his death they took over the hotel
and in 1929 their son Hanspeter Tratschin continued to manage the hotel.
In 1972 the local hotelier Erwin Degiacomi bought the hotel and renamed it Hotel Soldanella.
Now the second generation, the sons of Erwin Degiacomi - Urs and Enrico are in charge.
